Keep your mind busy. Speak to those who have been investigating thus far. You can't do much, but you can keep updated.

Important or not, the brain isn't completely understood. Pushing yourself might only cause a relapse and cause you to forget more.

It changes with every person. I'd suggest easing yourself into your work again. Don't five head-first into it.
